Not only is the interior so much more sleek in how it looks, the technology has advanced massively also making this one of our top SUV choices. 

The Quattro all wheel drive system makes for a smooth drive with excellent handling around New Zealand’s roads. You’ll comfortably drive from Bluff to Cape Reinga in the Q5! Not only will you have the luxury experience and smooth handling, but you’ll also have the power when you need it the most. The 2.0L turbocharged engine is perfect for overtaking those slow trucks and climbing those steep hills.

The advanced technology in these allows for the driver to even have a relaxing start to their holiday. Packed full of safety features, the 2017+ Audi Q5 contains lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control and of course all the great features for assisted parking such as parking sensors, parking assist, reversing cameras AND a 360 degree camera – what more could you need!

RANGE ROVER SPORT

For those with a big budget, you’ll never have to go without maximum comfort on your road trips! Taking off for a long weekend of camping? You’ll fit in the 3 bedroom tent and all sorts of glamping necessities to make your time away unforgettable. You’ll be seated in a comfortable luxurious SUV, with either 5 or 7 seats – depending on your Range Rover + we’d imagine you’d even have room with the family dog!

Boasting not only comfort, but power with a 3.0L turbocharged engine in our most popular 2017 Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic model or take it up a notch with a 2017 Range Rover Sport Autobiography featuring a 5.0L V8 supercharged engine. NISSAN X-TRAIL

A more budget friendly option of SUV – but one that is practical and of course, reliable. Our X-Trails stocked here at Affordable Cars start from around $16,990, and go up to around $27,990 – the more you spend, the later model and more features you’ll get! 

Fold flat rear seats allow you to have maximum room when holidaying with large items – take away the whole kitchen sink and you’ll still have room for the rest of your stuff! The X-Trail is one of our most popular SUVs for this reason, and whilst you have lots of space, it’s also one of the most efficient for its size. We have sold a number of hybrid X-Trails, but even the standard 2.0L petrol engines use just 6.9L per 100km of driving.

The Nissan X-Trail comes in both 2WD and 4WD versions – depending on the types of roadtrips you’re going on, both are great options. The 4Wd model is the perfect choice for roadtrips that include various terrains, taking the gravel roads, and finding the time-saving shortcuts.

TOYOTA C-HR

Lastly, we recommend the Toyota C-HR for an ultimate roadtripping car. Whilst you may fit in less with this compact SUV, it is the perfect vehicle choice for comfort and city driving. Take it for a long distance drive, and then settle into your next city destination – it’s a great sized car for easy parking, and will get you there comfortably. 

The hybrid 1.8L petrol engine allows you to skip the frequent petrol stops, ultimately saving you money on not only fuel, but also snacks from the petrol station convenience stores! With the hybrid engine running quieter than standard petrol engines, your roadtrip games of eye-spy are going to be even easier.

Toyotas are of course a known reliable brand of vehicle, and this is no exception. You’ll feel safe in knowing that you’ll make it to your destination, no matter how far it is, with no hiccup along the way.
