Shipment Arrival Process

Large range onsite - Affordable Cars Christchurch

Ever wondered what happens when we say a shipment has arrived? We’ve just had 70+ cars arrive on two shipments into Lyttelton Port this week – a pretty busy few weeks ahead for the Affordable team.

Once the ship arrives into the Port, they begin to roll off and into the hands of inspectors there. They inspect for things such as rust, structural damage, tampered odometer and biosecurity issues like bugs and seeds. After this they go into a large carpark, where the transporter trucks load up 5 cars at a time on one truck, and bring the straight to our yard!

At our yard, we give every car an inspection of our own – looking for things such as any panel work that will need to be done, any mechanical work and any other notes. The key tags get created with the cars make, model, colour, odometer and vin number, so we can identify the cars. From here, they’re ready to be driven over to our compliance centre where they are complied to New Zealand standards.

Our team will then pick up the cars once they have passed, bring them back to our yard and then it’s time to give them a good groom up, inside and out. From here, all we need to do is take photos of them, and they’re then listed on the yard ready for sale!
